Welcome to the Colour-se7en website.

I have, as have most people on the autism spectrum aquired special interests over the years, one of my special interests(obsessions) is the autism spectrum itself, so to share my interest with you all I have produced the following website which I hope will inspire, encourage and empower, thank you for visiting! Colour-se7en also hosts pages which incorporate the parent support group CAPAAS.

I would like to share the following with all visitors to this website. When I finally get to sleep at night/early morning, I never dream of a world without autism, nor do I think of the possibility of eventually being included in a mainstream society. I actually dream of a world in which autistic people can and do live happy and productive lives, within a society where predjudicial attitudes are a thing of the past, and true inclusion is the only way forward.

So this mentioned, welcome to the colour-se7en website - a point of reference on the World Wide Web for information on the subject of Asperger Syndrome and other Autistic Spectrum related disorders, my aim is to create more public awareness on this seemingly little known and talked about subject. The name for the web site came about after much thought about the Autistic spectrum its range and complexity, together with the structure of an everyday rainbow, bringing its own complexity and spectrum with many different hues and shades of one colour.

"Just as the rainbow has its spectrum so too has Autism.....welcome to the colour-se7en...Steve McGuinness.

The colour yellow features in the number seven in the logo, I feel it represents hope in the understanding of autism and the connection of all of the pieces of this illusive and complex puzzle, it also represents the number seven as I see it 'yellow' (see synathesia, in asperger syndrome). As I write on this web site I tend to refer to anyone on the spectrum as an 'autistic' despite the fact that every autistic is different from every other one, however the similarities between people on the spectrum are far greater than those not on the spectrum. There is a possibility that there may be certain statements written by me within this website that you may not agree with and as such may be likely to offend, I would like to apologise now if I do offend as it is not my intension to do so . For instance people have been heard to say, which I feel is one of the most devastating myths with reference to autistic children in that they cannot show affection. I would say to this while sensory stimulation is processed differently in some children with autism, they can and do give affection, but it may require patience on a parent's part to accept and give love on the child's terms.

A S D (Autistic Spectrum Disorders).

Due to the fact of its invisible nature, creating awareness and understanding of this condition can be difficult. It was first identified in 1943 and Autism is still a relatively unknown disability, with this in mind all autistic spectrum disorders are estimated to affect the lives of over 500,000 families throughout the UK. I personally think one of the most controversial statements that has been made is the fact that Aspergers and other Autistic disorders are caused due to an adverse - effect or reaction to immunisation for instance, the triple type of vaccines and others with heavy metal preservatives which were used in (previous times) in the manufacture of them, my perspective is the argument actually fails to address that while females are affected, all Autistic spectrum disorders are overwhelmingly male, however both sexes are immunised in approximately the same equal numbers.

News....'This is a huge step forward' 'Autism bill published'

The autism bill published today promises a brighter future for thousands of people, says Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society. The first law to help people with autism came a step closer to reality today with the announcement that Cheryl Gillan MP (drawn first in the private members' bill ballot) will take forward the autism bill with the backing of 14 autism charities, including ours, the National Autistic Society (NAS). This is fantastic news for the over half a million people in the UK and their families who are affected by this serious, lifelong and disabling condition. For more on this story click here
